Sims 4 can t place rooms above fourth floor.
More worryingly sims 3 automatically places floor tiles by stairs and those seem to be just not there.
That leads to awkward looking stuff like garbage cans sitting conspicuously far from walls.
Look at the shapes you use in your home.
In the sims 4 why can t you build walls above the 4th floor.
Once the whole roof area is covered by the empty room you can use the eyedropper tool to select the trim and apply it.
Tried removing all the roof things as well no clue what s going on.

Keep doing this till the empty room covers all of that top floor note that once you drag that piece out over the new area you can then add a new empty room in the area you just created.

I ve checked the house over and over and nothing appears to be in the way at all.
I m trying to build a hotel but it won t let me build above the 4th floor answer save.
I can t even teleport to the other rooms on the third floor.
If you are a fan of the sims but have shied away from building now is the time to dip your toe in the water.
You may need to write the dimensions of the thing on a paper demolish the lot and try again.
Building then removing a room on the floor above fixed it the issue.
When i select the room it looks fine with no visible problems and you can see that in this print.
If they are mostly rectangular go with a boxy fence and vice versa if you have a fancier home.
