Silhouette blade cutting through vinyl backing.
1 blade is not properly inserted and or locked down.
Once the cut is finished use the unload button on your machine to unload your vinyl.
To cut properly the blade must be pushed all the way down with no visible gap between the tool holder and the blade.
How to stop cutting through vinyl backing.
If your cricut cuts through the backing there are usually one of two possible issues.
The end cap unscrews while it s cutting it won t automatically set itself to the cut settings in the send menu etc.
When cutting adhesive vinyl or heat transfer vinyl a kiss cut is used to cut the vinyl but leave the carrier sheet or backing intact.

Once the vinyl is removed look at your test cut.
Did it cut cleanly through the vinyl.
Can the triangle be removed completely without any places sticking.

If your silhouette cutting mat is brand new you may want to de stick the cutting mat somewhat by blotting it with a clean t shirt.
If this happened the blade is cutting too deep.
Blade ratchet to change blade setting on each machine made in the last 3 years or so there is a round indentation on the machine in the lower left hand side.
The same goes for the portrait 2 autoblade.
Place the vinyl onto the silhouette cutting mat with the backing paper side down onto the mat making sure the vinyl is covering the same area where the design is placed on the virtual mat in silhouette studio.
This is a tool you can use to change the setting on the blade.
Just remove the blade from the carriage put it blade side down into the indention and turn until the blade is on the setting you want.
In most cases there are two quick fixes that will fix the issue and get you cutting successfully in a hurry.
Did the machine cut all the way through to the back.
For me this is the bane of using vinyl.
Silhouette finally has more autoblades available and is sending me a new one.
